Presentando la Biblioteca Estadista José Celso Barbosa
Hoy, 27 de julio de 2012, en el aniversario 155 del natalicio de José Celso Barbosa, la Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association se complace en presentar la nueva , una iniciativa educativa que reenforzará nuestro mensaje, y facilitará nuestros esfuerzos de cara al Plebiscito del 6 de noviembre.
Esta emocionante iniciativa es el fruto de un esfuerzo que comenzó con la reactivación de PRSSA en el 2007. Nuestras gracias a Hernan Padilla, Eduardo Nater, Phillip Arroyo, Estadistas Unidos, Proyecto Estrella, e Igualdad, quienes colaboraron inmensamente, logrando hacer este proyecto realidad. 2012 PRSSA National Board Elections
We now once again, announce the process for the 2012 Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association National Board Elections. We can now announce that this year’s elections will be held on May 18, 2012, online through our election portal.

RIP Pedro Vázquez
Pedro Vázquez, the former Secretary of State under Gov. Carlos Romero Barceló, passed away on June 23, 2011. In 1979 and 1980, he was one of the most supportive public officials when fellow college student Luis Fortuño and Kenneth McClintock co-founded PRSSA, and was, along with Congressman Paul Simon, Don Luis A. Ferré and Governor Romero, a featured speaker at the first PRSSA Annual Convention at the Cerromar Hotel in the summer of 1980. Read the rest of this entry »

The Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association is proud to unveil its new Intership Center, a new database of internship opportunities for the members of the organization.

PRSSA Proposed Constitutional Amendments
As part of the 2011 Elections, we have received proposals to amend the PRSSA Constitution. The proposals are as follows:
All registered voters will be able to vote in this referendum. Should these amendments be ratified, and approved by the National Board, they will go into effect immediately.

2011 PRSSA Elections
It is with great pride that we announce the continuation of one of our greatest traditions: the election of a new national board.
Guiding us through this process will be the who’s responsibilities will include the gathering of all nominations, the attesting to the acquiescence of the nominated, and the supervisors of the elections. This year’s Elections Committee will be chaired by PRSSA Executive Director Fernando Sepulveda. We will soon unveil the names of the remaining members that will compose the Elections Committee.
This year, we have a new process in place to facilitate the voting process and ensure a clean, safe and secure election. Members of the PRSSA will have to register in order to vote in the 2011 National Board Elections. All you need to do is to fill out the form, and as long as you are a current student in a high school or university, you will be eligible to vote. As election day approaches, registered voters will receive an email prior to the vote with the instructions and appropriate information.

2011 PRSSA Elections Changes
The National Board of the Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association announced today that they are currently working on a revamp of the elections process. In order to simplify the process, looking for greater efficiency, President Eduardo Soto announced the plan to implement voter registration forms into the process. This means that to vote in the elections, PRSSA members would have to register before every election.
The process will be handled by the , who would be in charge of the voter list. This voter list would be discarded after every election and regenerated for a new election. Read the rest of this entry »
