Executive Vice President William-Jose Velez

William-José Vélez González is a senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in International Relations, as a member of the Honors College at Florida International University.He currently is the National Executive Vice President of the Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association after serving for 3 consecutive terms as National Vice President.William-Jose served as one of the Senators for the College of Engineering and Computing, and as the Speaker of the Student Government Council – Modesto A. Maidique Campus Senate, the legislative body charged with representing the interests of more than 44,000 students at FIU.In the 2009-2010 academic year William-Jose served as Vice Chair for the Rules, Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the SGC-MMC Senate, and received the 2009-2010 Senator of the Year Award.

William-Jose was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, being raised in Añasco, Puerto Rico, and Miami and Orlando, Florida. He is a graduate of the Residential Center of Educative Opportunities of Mayaguez (CROEM in Spanish).
