ABOUT THE ABSENTEE VOTE

The Absentee Vote process for Puerto Rico is open to students pursuing their academic preparation outside of Puerto Rico, while still maintaining their legal permanent residence there.

 Requirements
To vote absentee in Puerto Rico you must be a registered voter, or have voted in the 2008 elections, fall under one of the acceptable categories and fill and turn in the Absentee Ballot Request fifty (50) days before the local primaries. Learn more to see the full list of requirements.

Process
After submitting the request form, the State Elections Commission will verify your eligibility and send your a receipt, asking for any missing information if necessary. Once ballots are ready they will be mailed to you. You must vote and return the ballots within thirty (30) days.

Dates
The deadline to request the absentee vote for the 2012 events is fifty (50) days before the event.
